To make financial contributions and provide other support for any group or organization located in the City of Oak Hill trading area which has as its purpose or one of its purposes the improvement of Oak Hill High School

Association’s History

The alumni association began as an outgrowth of the multi-year reunions of the classes of 1938, 1939, 1940, 1941, and 1942. As members of these classes realized how enjoyable their reunions were in 1980 and 1985, a plan to move forward was formulated. The Association was incorporated March 29, 1985, mainly with the guidance and labor of Robert Painter, Class of 1940. Mrs. Velma Spencer Foster, OHHS Class of 1940, related the following: “In the early 1980’s, several of us met in the office of Robert Painter to discuss plans to enlarge the gathering. Bob (Painter) was the driving force behind forming an organization; he kept us focused. As we were walking down the steps afterward, Harry Altizer said, “I know you’re going to need some money for postage,’ and he stuck some money in my hand. I was stunned to see two $100 bills!”

It was two years before the charter was granted, but the work for financing scholarships was in full force. In 2003, through the diligent work of Robert L. Sanger, the organization was granted 501©3 status as a federally approved tax-exempt organization, opening wide the door for large gifts.
